Meditation & Masturbation: Sexy Sundays with The Meow University

Sundays are one of my favorite days because you can take it easy. But there are some really randy Sundays that turn up the heat and have you praising the almighty with feminine fierceness. If the title caught you then I guess that is a good thing. You may be wondering what does meditation have to do with masturbation…and in my opinion absolutely everything.

The Meow University is a place where the birthright of orgasms, sexual curiosity, kinks and queer ways are reclaimed, I call them “Sexy Sundays”. Beginning the week in high awareness of your most sensual self can be a life changing experience, but you gotta get to the places inside of yourself that allow for you to accept what is and also be present.

I thought after all this time teaching my Sex Flex class for TMU I may as well make it known the fun, the freaky, the freeing experiences class offers for yogis, yonis and all in between. It is no secret that I’m a very passionate yogi when it comes to intimacy and closeness. Working with TMU has given me a deeper connection with using my practice in a practical way and share it with all the amazing students that come to my classes and workshops.

What I have noticed is that most of the conversations about Black women and sex is dominated by sexual assault stats. Child molestation, date rape, incest, sexual assault, teen pregnancy, STD’s…the list of offenses to Black femme bodies goes on. With so much of the conversation directed towards sinister sex it makes it easy to forget to talk about all the amazing parts of our bodies and desires.

Maybe you’re wondering what the big deal is. Well a 200 Ebony Sex Survey found that only about 40% of survey respondents (N=8000) were mostly or completely satisfied with their sex lives. The reasons why these women aren’t satisfied aren’t necessarily known, but consider your own satisfaction with your lovemaking lifestyle. What are some reasons you aren’t happily humping the days away? It could be a number of things quite honestly

Also’ “37% of the sample surveyed self-reported early sexual abuse at the hands of immediate and/or extended family members; 15%-18% have been treated for high blood pressure, STDs/HIV, and/or fibroids; and 33% have experienced an inability to achieve orgasm in the last year. Of the sample 47% stated that they had not discussed these problems with their physicians.”

These stats while disturbing don’t have to disrupt intimacy and sexual activity. there are so many different ways to be intimate and so many experiences for all body types. Yet if you are imbalanced and distracted mentally, and emotionally drained the nourishing and healing aspects of sex disappear.

What is important about finding your inner freak is that you first find your way to free it. When your body is in emotional conflict, physical pain or internal distress a hurricane orgasm may be the last thing on your mind, connecting with your partner exploring new intimate ideas may be shadowed with self doubt, negative self talk or stress from real life.

On Sexy Sundays bodies come to let go and learn. Sometimes there is learning orgasmic meditation, other times there is learning how to ride your partner with pace and grace. If you are looking to spice up your life, calm your self down and live in a libido aware state I look forward to welcoming you to class soon. For some more Black Sex readings I’ve compiled a Sex Syllabus below for you. Just a few readings, podcasts and listenings on a range of sex conversations.
